Service Description
The Green Man is a pagan symbol of nature, rebirth and the cycle of new growth that happens every spring. A full day workshop from 10am to 4pm, with a break for lunch. This workshop doesn't include the decorating as it is a whole day to make. You will be offered the option to paint at home with acrylic paints or to come back after the bisc firing and use tints and glazes for an additional cost. At lunch time, you are welcome to stay in the studio or, weather permitting, sit in our lovely garden that is peaceful and full of wild life. Bring a packed lunch or pop to Fairbourne, which is a 5 minute walk from my studio. Fairbourne has a few outlets selling cooked food, sandwiches and filled rolls. I will guide you through the process and demonstrate techniques along the way. We will roll out slabs and use formers for support, sculpting a face and adding sprigs of leaves and anything else a green person may be embellished with! We will be using a brown stoneware clay that can be once fired to a matt finish and can be painted at home using acrylic paints. Alternatively, if you would like to come back and use some tints, stains or glaze, I will offer this as an extra session on another day and a second firing would be necessary. That would be a half day workshop, and would cost £30. I will show some examples on the day and then you can decide if you want to come back at a convenient time. The date – Thursday 13th August 2026 Time 10am - 4pm with a break for lunch. The cost per person is £70. This includes materials and a high temperature firing. Tea, coffee and biscuits also included.
